The Buildup Starts NOW!!!
Ok so I want to get the Rx7 (Black) done within Spring Break. We can get this baby done in a full day but I can also do it by myself if no one wants to help me
.
This is a list mainly for me so I can scratch off what I have and look for what I need (Just thinking of these things right now).
All I need for the simple Swap
- Motor Mounts
- Oil
- Oil Filter
- Coolant
- Radiator Hoses
- Vacuum Lines
- Turbo Porting
- 720cc Injectors
Now The process (to show you guys how easy it is)
- Remove Fan and Shroud
- Remove motor Mount bolts
- Remove Tranny bolts
- Disconnect gas cable
- Disconnect all lines going into firewall
- Remove AC compressor and set aside to connect on new engine
- Remove oil cooler lines
- Pull motor a bit
- Remove whatever else is connected
- Pull engine out
- Take clutch out of old engine and put on new
- Put new motor mounts on new
- Lift engine and start lowering into engine bay
- Make sure nothing is getting pinched
- Lower till tranny and motor mounts lock in
- Tight motor mounts and tranny
- Connect AC compressor and everything else that was disconnected
- Put oil on engine
- Put Coolant and replace all Radiator hoses
- Start Her UP!!!!
This done right with at least 2 people (3 is better) can be done in two days taking it easy only working 4 hours each day on it. But it can be done in one if started at 8am and ending at night.
Josh I can get new motor mounts shipped for $35.00 if you can do better please let me know cause I really prefer getting them locally.
i will check tom just remind me
...dont forget to check today hehehe... im in, dont mind getting my hands dirty if you tell me what to do :)
Ok so it has started here is what has been done so far.
The harness has to be re-used from the engine in the car because the wiring harness on the motor outside is toasted and very old even though the engine has been rebuilt. So that took us almost all day just to take off harness on both cars.
The engine is now ready to be taken off and the other one will go in right away. Then the remounting of harness and the rest starts. This could all be done in about 5 hours if we dont find problems but we always do.
Today not much got done do to all the work we had to do with some merchandise that my dad had to put away. At least the engine was pulled out. We found out that the rear rotor did actually have "0" compression which is nice cause I was starting to think that maybe that engine was actually good since everything looked so clean. We also checked the new engine that is going in and even though it feels like it has just a bit less compression on the rear it is a lot stronger than the previous. Im happy with it going in and it should give plenty of performance for a while.
Here is a bad picture of the engine out of the car already.
The car is done... Running 5.5psi of boost on every gear. The torque feels very low but once the turbo kicks in all hell breaks lose. To give you guys an idea if my red rx7 and this one raced my red rx7 would keep up all the way till about 4th gear then this one would pull on it. So its not that much faster than the red but once I get some $ it will double its power
dude get a new car, u need another car, 2 cars its not enough
basically he wants you to give him ur car and buy another one
yeah BASICALLY, cause BASICALLY u got too much cars that are BASICALLYING in ur house. BASICALLY the point of this is for u to BASICALLY be a really BASICAL good friend and BASICALLY again give me one of ur cars, only if ur BASICALLY willing to do it.... basically
basical good friend?? thats not a word
Sorry boss.....we just put 4 days from 8-8 (more or less) of work on that car. Just in labor you would have to pay me about $3k then another $4k for the car. And thats not counting the rebuilt engine that it now has, usually cost $2.5k (just the engine) and a bunch of new parts. Then add the sentimental value you get after working so hard on a car.
So in other words give me $12k and you can have the black one with plenty of engine life and power to spare.
This thing the way it is now (pretty much stock)would leave a 2009 GTI in the dust. In a couple of months it will blow an R32 out of the park...at half throttle.
gti yeah..but nothing worth anything...yet
where is this?

Yeah not really a monster yet but the upgrades will start coming next week. The reason for this is that the stupid exhaust is making the car over boost so its in major need of bigger injectors and a computer to control it. Otherwise I can pop the engine so I wont drive it hard till I upgrade.
So next week will be another week of dirty hands cause things are coming apart again.
u want 4k for the car? didnt u get it for 2k? sentimental value?? uve had that car for like 5 days and u allready have sentimental value in it???? 12k? be happy if u get 6k for it,
if i was to fix up a VR6-GTi, the dust would be on ur face.
remember though carlos...that rx7 is basically stock...stock gti s are not fast
The 09 GTI is really not slow though. 200hp and 206 ft/lb of torque...thats to the flywheel but its still not bad for such a small car. 3k pounds Im guessing. Alex's friend has one and Alex said it felt faster than his stang and there were 4 people inside the car. On the comercial they claim 140mph track speed. What that means is that while testing it reach 140mph so it could probably do more on a long HW stretch.
Thats not a bad car
