Supra (Josh)
Just wanted to post a crash course of that model Supra we were talking about here. I know must of this you know but its mainly to get you pumped (Josh).
They call them MK3's thats just a vin code like the 2nd gen rx7's are Fc3s and the 300zx(Vivs) is a Z32...Its weird cause the Golf gti's have the same codes. The TT Supra everyone knows about is a Mk4, whatever thats just to look for parts people catalog them like that.
Now the good stuff from the little I know about them is that they are power suckers. What I mean by that is that they can make power very fast with every little thing you do to them. Its not like a civic that makes 3whp out of a full exhaust and Headers. These babies put some power down. The best power for your Buck is the Turbo mainly cause I have noticed the price difference is not that big from the N/A.
The 1989 Turbo model makes 232hp-254lb/ft and the N/A makes 200hp. There was a Japan Model that never came here that made 280hp but you cant get that here. They weigh 3389lb and thats the Manual cause the Auto weighs more. I think its heavy but the amount of tourque makes up for it.
Now back to the power sucking, just looking around at modded Supra's I have noticed the average HP for a modded one of these is 550hp. The main mods are Turbo upgrade, Cams, ECU and cooling (intercooler etc). They range from 400whp-800whp, Like I said they make POWER!
Now the prices are pretty nice. I have looked at some very clean ones and some very beat up ones. I think ebay has the best prices and its the most fun. Right now there is a white one (I love white Supras and 7's) that I believe is a great deal. The bid will end in 2 days at I predict about $2k more or less. Whats good about this car is that it has had a full engine/turbo rebuild. They also updated the pistons and internals to hold more future upgrades. The man has already done the basic upgrades so it big HP from there on and the fresh engine can now hold it. The car is in OK Ill put the link at the bottom. I bet its not in perfect shape but you get a reliable fresh engine and a great canvas to work on.
i bid $1800 and some1 has it set higher...and the reserve bid has not been met yet so i predict it will go for about $3000
I emailed the guy and asked him about the reserve, he said it was $2k and I bet someone already threw a $2k bid. Id let that one go then if you dont wanna go over 2k.
This is weird I looked all over and cant find one of those with less than 118k miles. The ones with miles like 200+k the engines have been replaced but its just crazy. I guess people bought these cars and really drove them.
Apparently he made a mistake or something cause that thing is over 2k already and still same reserve...mmm...maybe he just lied to me so I would bid $2k
im the 1 that bid 2 make it 2k...i put 2001 and it went up to 2026 and still on reserve
not sure why u never found this 1...u prolly did but didnt want 2 spend time working on it haha

its in kerville so thats an easy trip for only $900...bad engine though and the body prolly isnt good..im guessing alot of other problems 2 from inactivity
no u tell that guy "i will give you $500 or $600 for that car!" you gotta jew him down and meet in the middle
Yeah I saw that but we are talking about a lot of work and time to just barely get it on the road. Not to forget $.
yeah i know we are but if i just et an engine for it i can have all the work done on it before it even drops into the car..i want 2 make a muscle car with a powerful engine that doesnt break itself before i put a turbo on it and make it a real import racer
